All living things die. It is a part of life that they do so. However death does not need to mean the end. Indeed, it can be the beginning of a new path. Those of you here have chosen to explore the road less traveled.
Necromancy exists with a certain stigma, often a stigma that is justified. Before I came to this school, this craft was not even talked about, much less taught. Along the same lines, those of you that pursue this aspect of magic will be mistrusted. But you must always hold your head high and persevere to show others you are not to be feared. Ignorance can only be abolished through education.
At no point should you think the study of Necromancy will be easy though. Indeed, though death is part of the natural order, make no mistake that we deal with energy and forces that exist outside of it. We are at a greater risk than most for our magic to turn against us. Strict discipline, strength of will, and long hours of study outside of class will be required. Many of the books we use were written in code, a language ment to hide their contents in order to protect the practitioners from those who did not understand and would instead do them harm. A large aspect of your time in these classes will be learning to read this language.
So leave your moral quandries and rightous indignations at the door for they will serve you no purpose here. And for those few of you that will remain, I look forward to sheparding you along this path.
Death is part of the natural order. To fear or dismiss it is blind oneself to the world.
